About Tony
BACKGROUND INFO:
Former Berklee Professor with a Masters of Music Degree in Jazz Composition and Performance from
New York University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Music Education from the Berklee
College of Music. Also, private studies with Charlie Banacos that include jazz studies for piano, as well as, arranging/composition, ear training, and transcription. Teacher Referral List for the Office of the Arts at Harvard University. Also included are students from MIT.
Have written a collected works, entitled, “CONCEPT,” that comprises 16 volumes. Have also developed a concept and sound for the contemporary jazz/rock group, called, "THIS TIME NOW." The new CD, "Next Venture," is scheduled for release some time in the Spring of 2012. Also, numerous engagements in large and small group settings: The Van Guard Jazz Orchestra (former Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band), Jim McNeely, Tom Harrell, Roy Hargrove, Ronnie Matthews.

Areas of concentration included: Ear Training, Harmony, Repertory Workshop, Ensembles,
Chart Reading Labs, Percussion Labs and Private Instruction (Snare Drum Repertoire/Drum Set improvisation). Lecturer/Clinician for the Department. Faculty Artist Concert Series (performed
a concert per semester at the Berklee Performance Center).
PLAYING EXPERIENCE:
1. Engagements with Jim McNeely, Mike Richmond, Tom Boras, Ralph LaLama, Tom Harrell,
Roy Hargrove, Ronnie Matthews, Gus Tilles, Eric Alexander, Jim Rotondi, and Joe Magnarelli.
2. Numerous engagements under my own leadership – Visiones, Smalls.
3. Recording projects for small and large group settings.

Appearances with the Van Guard Jazz Orchestra, Herb Pomeroy and Buddy Morrow, as well as,
numerous project and rehearsal bands.
JAZZ
Many small and large group settings as a sideman. The most current endeavor, as a leader,
